The tour to Muir Woods and Sausalito was good overall, but could have been better timed. Way too much time was given at Muir Woods (almost 2 hours). We ended up walking the whole thing 3 times and could see other couples wandering around because it was too much time. Also, if you start at 11 AM, you should tell people to bring a lunch to eat at Muir Woods, because we didn’t get to Sausalito until 2:30 so we were starved by then. Muir Woods did not have food except for prepackaged sandwiches (which not everyone can eat.) It was nice seeing the Golden Gate Bridge and the Palace of fine arts for two very quick stops. The tour guide gave some good information on the way to Muir Woods and through San Fran as well.

Itinerary

Take time away from San Francisco on a half-day trip to Muir Woods National Park and Sausalito.

Travel across the Golden Gate Bridge and through the rugged coastal mountains of Marin County. Experience the magnificent views of the San Francisco Bay and valleys where the Coastal Miwok once lived. Our first stop is the Muir Woods National Monument, where ancient groves of Giant Redwoods (Sequoia Sempervirens) tower over Redwood Creek. Our tour allows you more time in Muir Woods than the amount of time offered by any tour company! Muir Woods entrance fee is included.

Next, visit the beautiful coastal town of Sausalito, a gorgeous Mediterranean-style village with quaint shops, art galleries, and waterfront restaurants. If a one-hour stop in Sausalito isn’t enough for you, extend your stay and return by ferry to San Francisco at your leisure. Ferry cost is not included unless selected during booking. The Ferry passes Alcatraz Island and offers spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline. The Ferry docks at Pier 41, in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf!
