Celebrate the Holidays All Month with These Special Events
December in San Francisco is a month filled with festive charm and community spirit. Whether you call the city home or are just passing through, there’s an abundance of special events and activities to capture the holiday magic. A popular outdoor ice rink located in the heart of San Francisco
- When: November 5-January 19

This holiday season the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens is running “Joy to the Animals,” a festive holiday-themed program featuring seasonal decorations, animal enrichment activities, live music, and community holiday spirit.
On Saturday, December 13, the Zoo will host a full schedule of animal treat presentations (from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) where many of the zoo’s residents — from rhinos to meerkats, lions, gorillas, Komodo dragons, and anteaters — get special holiday-themed “treats.”
That same day, Santa Claus visits the Zoo — families can meet him from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Entry Village.
On December 20 and 21, guests can enjoy live performances by the historic caroling group The Merrie Olde Christmas Carolers (from 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.) — a holiday-classic festive touch.

Enjoy their 60 foot live Christmas Tree that “comes to life” and performs nightly every half hour from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM through January 7. Synchronized to Holiday music with specialty lights and ornaments, it transforms into a kaleidoscope of swirling colors for everyone to enjoy throughout the Holiday season!
