Marin Headlands located just north of the San Francisco, its known for green hills and perfect for hikers and bikers. It’s home to many attractions and places to visit and minutes away from Downtown San Francisco. It has many gems but the first one is Battery Spencer, offering a spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge, millions of tourists come here to see the historic Golden Gate Bridge.
Point Bonita Lighthouse
Another beautiful stop at Marin Lands is Point Bonita Lighthouse. One of the first lighthouses that build in 1855 on the west coast, is still active and is maintained by U.S. Coast Guard. The tunnel halfway to the lighthouse is open only during visiting hours Saturday Sunday and Mondays from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Rodeo Beach is located on the west of the Marin Headlands, if you are doing a big loop in the Marin Headlands, it is perfect for resting and enjoying the fresh sea breeze. There are so many trails that you can take all around the beach and so much to see. Many experienced road bikers also ride along the roads leading to the beach. When you go down through Gerbode Valley to the beach, you will see the lovely lagoon there. Especially, if you start at Miwok stables, you can go up then down to the Gerbode Valley to the beach then you can hike the trail back to the starting point. You will also find big rocks, black sand all around the Rodeo Beach.
Sausalito is a small town that will amaze you at first glance. You will find nice restaurants, many souvenir stores, and art galleries. Sausalito is offering one of the best sunset views of the Bay Area, with great dining opportunities. As you walk around the small town you will come across the harbor with many yachts and the ferry terminal.
It’s a great spot for bikers since it is a top attraction for many tourists that are interested in crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and return from Sausalito by ferry. Don’t forget to visit Sausalito Bakery & Café or Salito's Crab House & Prime Rib.
Take advantage of the breathtaking views of Lyford's Cove & Angel Island, Tiburon is located just north of San Francisco in Marin County. As you can access from Highway 101 and Highway 131, you can also visit Tiburon by taking the ferry from the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Many of the restaurants are located on the waterfront and they have beautiful views of the Bay and downtown San Francisco.
Sam's Anchor Cafe is the one of most famous bars/restaurants over there with some other drinking and dining options on Main Street. Parking can be tough but there are a bunch of (paid) parking lots around the Downtown area. Driving is also nice if you turn your camera on for amazing Bay views.
